Ascension Community Garden

2026 garden is accepting reservations

The community garden was established Spring 2017, but the area has been being cultivated for several years; rototilled every spring and fall .

Individual plots are 27’x16’ for a total of 432 sq feet.

 Key Points: 

• The whole area is fenced in – protected from deer

• Plant debris may remain in garden at end of season, except for very large stalks (i.e. sunflower/corn)

• Water spigot at site for buckets/hose hook up

• Planned date for official opening – Mid May ; although this is weather dependent

• $60 fee for season (cash or check to Ascension Lutheran Church)

• $35 fee for half a plot

• Alternatives to the use of chemical pesticides are encouraged; application of any herbicides is forbidden

• Pets not allowed inside the garden area

• No burning allowed

• Watering – please try & be conservative; hand watering is the most effective way to give your plants moisture & better for the plants health

• If you intend to use weed suppression material ONLY COVER ROWS with plants, leave dirt paths between planting rows, only use water permeable cloth. DO NOT USE PLASTIC.

• Gardens not started by June 1st will be reassigned to another gardener & agreement terminated

• All non plant materials (tools, landscape fabric/plastic, etc.) must be removed by Oct 15th
