On Saturday September 12, 2020 , Ascension will be preparing Breakfast Bags for Caring for Friends. This involves assembling bags that include 6.75 oz 100% juice boxes, individual packets of instant oatmeal (plain and flavored), 6 packs of peanut butter or cheese crackers, 1 oz boxes of raisins or other dried fruit, wrapped tea bags or individual packs of instant coffee (not K-cups). Donations of the above items, as well as gallon plastic storage bags, are also appreciated.
We are planning to assemble Breakfast Bags for Caring for Friends for God’s Work Our Hands Sunday. Thanks to your generous donations and a Thrivent Action Team Grant, we have supplies for approximately 600 bags ready to go. Caring for Friends clients are still in need of food in the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic. In keeping with the mandates for social distancing, we have re-thought how we can assemble the Breakfast Bags and will do so on Saturday, September 12th.
Two long tables will be set up apart from each other in the Narthex with supplies for the bags on both. We are looking for several volunteers to come to church on Saturday September 12th to assemble the bags from 9:30 AM until about 1:00 PM.
We need 3 people for each shift; shifts will be 9:30 AM -11:00 AM and 11:30-1:00 PM. One person (or more if they are from the same family/household) will be at each table. Two people will assemble and one will count and place filled bags into grocery bags. The second shift needs one additional volunteer to help carry filled grocery bags to Sheryl’s car for delivery to Caring for Friends. Volunteers will diligently wash hands prior to assembly. Please sign up for a shift if you are able to come help us fill the Breakfast Bags. Thank you!
